Dos Polacas' Mission Statement
Sharon Eva Grainger and Pamela Pakker-Kozicki = Dos Polacas
Photographer Sharon captures the light and natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, working with indigenous people to document their vibrant, enduring culture.
Writer-editor Pamela listens to those around her, recording interviews, writing to provide a context for Sharon's powerful images, translating Dos Polacas' experiences into words, creating a common language of integrity and love.
Working alongside the members of cultural groups, institutions and political entities, Dos Polacas has been able to creatively employ world-class photography and sensitive writings to accomplish cultural projects, working in support of indigenous communities and their goals.

Ongoing Work
Face-to-FaceOur overall goal in all of our projects is to reach for an understanding. We introduce individuals of one culture to members of another culture face-to-face, working to eliminate, one brick at a time, the wall between them. We facilitate laughter-filled activities, involving all ages from students to the elders of the community. Employing artisans as bridges between cultures i.e. carvers/sculptors, button-blanket makers/sewers, musicians and dancers, uses the language of art to initiate non-verbal points of engagement. Cultural art provides a neutral ground between the cultures within which relationships can begin.

Cultural SpacesDos Polacas has also been effective at aiding in the non-financial support of cultural projects. We witness cultures, listen actively, and then discern what, if any, additional support we can help bring to the table. We facilitate and organize cultural spaces where understandings can blossom; produce written and visual materials; introduce organizations and individuals to another; and involve participants (and audience-spectators) in artistic, athletic and/or educational gatherings.

Knitting Networks TogetherDos Polacas is available to aid in corralling resources by create visual and written materials to supplement existing fundraising. Using our own networks, we can bring information of events/workshops/cultural performances to others we feel would be interested in funding such efforts. As our networks grow, we are able to involve participants in any of Dos Polacas’ ongoing projects in other projects across the planet.
