In 1997, with a 16-month-old Zenia in tow, we traveled deep into the Copper Canyon of Northwest Mexico to work with the Raramuri people. "Who are you?" was always the first question. To keep it simple, we told everyone we were just Dos Polacas (Two Polish Girls). The name became our introduction, our badge, our company.
That first trip taught us many, many lessons. One of them was that wherever we went, our mission was to open hearts. We photograph the astounding diversity of cultures around us and record the stories tying the people to the land and to each other. |
